Introduction


The Master of Science in Applied Gerontology programme provides a holistic and advanced education in the rapidly expanding field of gerontology. It is designed for students preparing for a career in ageing-related fields or professionals who are working in ageing services settings.

 
This graduate programme offers an interdisciplinary Asia focused curriculum. While the core curriculum focuses on the foundations of gerontology shared by many disciplines, the concentration courses and electives allow students to pursue learning experience complementing their individual professional interests.
The courses offered will include not only those that address the challenges of an ageing population from the perspectives of social science, but also courses in engineering, design, and medicine.  Students will have opportunities to work with companies and NTU’s ageing research centres on projects for the silver population. Class Profile
The inaugural class will comprise of healthcare professionals, social workers and policy makers who have a passion for eldercare and would like to acquire specialized knowledge in gerontology or enhance their expertise in this field.
Career Opportunities
In the course of the programme, you would be exposed to interdisciplinary fields of knowledge, research opportunities with NTU’s ageing research centres and practicum opportunities that connect you with the industry of your interest.
 
After completing the programme you would possess key knowledge valuable to a variety of industries and job functions. You may go on to pursue careers in, consulting, government agencies, ageing related businesses, community and social services, non-profit organizations, healthcare management, and much more. Programme Duration
The programme is offered on both full time and part time basis and can be completed within 1 and 1.5 academic years respectively. Classes will be scheduled for weekday evenings and Saturdays. Click here for details of the programme structure.
 
Admissions Criteria
Applicants should possess a good bachelor’s degree and preferably with 2 years of work experience. Click here for details on admissions.
