1. Hiring Full-time Lab Manager

The Neurolinguistics and Cognitive Science Lab (http://www.cnl-ntu.com/) is hiring a full-time lab manager to assist the PI in data collection, data analysis, preparation of manuscript and daily lab administration. The candidate should be university graduate in psychology, cognitive science, psycholinguistics or related field, preferably has experience working in a research lab. The candidate has to be comfortable with computers and new softwares. Knowledge of SPSS, e-prime, word processing software, any programming language, operating an ERP machine is preferred. There will be opportunity for the candidate to carry out independent research relevant to our funded research projects on language, aging, music and cognition. The position is for two years, and is renewable subject to mutual interest and funding availability.

Job Description

To provide research-related assistance to Professor Kingsley Bolton from the Division of Linguistics and Multilingual Studies, and Assistant Professor Werner Botha from the Language and Communication Centre.

The duties of the Project Officer may include:

 

·         Archival work (getting materials from libraries, etc.)
·         Arranging interviews/Transcribing interviews
·         Data entry
·         Editing, formatting academic articles
·         Handling correspondence (fast typing skills desirable)
·         Manuscript preparation
·         Word processing
Job Requirements

The post may be particularly attractive/relevant to recent graduates with an interest in English worldwide, language and globalization, sociolinguistics, and world Englishes.

LEAP lab at NTU is a research unit devoted to the study of language and cognition. We are seeking a computer programmer to work as part-time Research Assistant to start immediately. Remuneration is in accord with the NTU pay scale. Flexible hours. Laboratory space is available on campus. The RA will join a team of cognitive scientists engaged in developing interactive online and offline experiments, cognitive training games, and brain imaging studies.

Minimum requirements:

Comfortability on UNIX-like systems, specifically Ubuntu Proficiency with Python Proficiency with Javascript Using CreateJS or other HTML Canvas abstraction framework

4. Part time tutors

The Division
 of Linguistics and Multilingual Studies invites applications for part-time tutors. We are in particular looking for candidates who can teach the core courses in the Division, namely, Introductory Linguistics, Phonetics and Phonology, Structure of English, Morphology and Syntax, Semantics and Pragmatics, Sociolinguistics, Bilingualism and Multilingualism.
Criteria:

  • Candidates must possess at least an MA in Linguistics.
  • Some prior tutoring experience will be an advantage.
  • Able to tutor/lecture during office hours.
  • Due to the part time nature of this job, Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents are preferred as candidates will not be able to get a work pass. Foreigners on dependent pass may apply.
